Enhance memory and learning capacity with Pramiracetam

Pramiracetam is part of a family of drugs called nootropics, or smart drugs, and are primarily used to improve memory and learning ability. Nootropics combine efficacy with low toxicity and very few side effects, which is why they are now used so widely. They are believed to help postpone or even reverse signs of brain aging.

Pramiracetam was derived from Piracetam, which was first developed almost 40 years ago. Since that time, nootropics have been extensively researched, with over 1000 scientific papers having now been published.

Pramiracetam, which is up to 7 times stronger, in addition to improving memory, is also used as a mild anti-depressant with a sedative effect. Clinical studies have shown improvements in attention span, learning capacity, memory, time/space orientation, and overall mental performance, in patients suffering from mild to moderate cerebral decline.

Toxicity studies have been performed to determine levels that are safe for human consumption. For example, intravenous doses of Piracetam given to rats (8 g. / Kg. body weight) and oral doses given to mice, rats and dogs (10 g. / Kg. or more) have shown no effects of toxicity. This level is claimed to be safer than salt, therefore, no toxicity is evident. In fact, nootropics are considered to be some of the safest drugs developed in terms of toxicity, and further toxicological studies in animals suggest that humans can tolerate 1200mg of daily treatment for up to one year. Over dosage however, can result in side effects including, headache, nausea, anxiety, agitation and insomnia.

How does it work?

Nootropics work by enhancing your brain’s metabolism, by increasing energy levels and enhancing protein biosynthesis and phospholipid metabolism. They increase levels of communication across the corpus callosum, the nerves that separate the two hemispheres of the brain. This is thought to perhaps manifest itself in forming “new ideas” and more creative thought.

What are the benefits of taking Pramiracetam?

Nootropics have been used to treat a broad range of conditions including:

  • Alcoholism
  • Improving or slowing deterioration of senile dementia such as Alzheimer's disease
  • Enhancing alertness, cooperation and socialization in the elderly patients
  • Improving reading, writing and spelling ability, and accuracy in dyslexia
  • Reducing the severity and occurrence of headaches, and symptoms of concussion
  • Treating motion sickness and vertigo

Dimond and Brouwers conducted 7 double blind trials with Pramiracetam, involving 16 second and third year college students, all of whom were in excellent health, and good physical and mental condition. Following the 14 days, the authors reported that those receiving the nootropics experienced improved verbal learning. As the participants were not suffering from senility or any other brain disorders, the researchers assumed that the drug was able to enhance already high intelligence and good memory.
