Hypertension – what is it, and what can we do about it?

Written by Anti Aging Systems

Hypertension

Hypertension is the proper name for “high blood pressure”; it can be caused by many illnesses and health conditions, as well as external and environmental factors – it is estimated that over 90% of cases have no single one cause, it is usually a combination of many factors.

Hypertension is a very common condition with many suffering from it, and many also who do not seek treatment – either because they are unaware they have it, or unaware of the resulting health problems that hypertension can cause. WHO estimated in 2023 that 1.28 billion adults had hypertension across the world [1].

The most common causes of Hypertension in general are:

  • Carrying excess weight
  • Consuming excessive levels of alcohol
  • Lack of exercise, often linked with a poor diet
  • Age related risk – the chances of high blood pressure become high over the age of 75 [2]

Treating Hypertension

As it is hard to pin down one single factor that causes Hypertension, the initial line of treatment tends to start with changing lifestyle factors that could be contributory to the diagnosis. These include:

  • Alcohol reduction in terms of volume and percentage (ABV)
  • Related to alcohol, the type of alcohol being consumed is also a factor – red wine has long been suggested to actually lower blood pressure when consumed in low amounts (3 glasses a week).
  • Increasing the amount of regular exercise – 30 minutes per day is a good recommendation, at least 5 days a week. The best forms of exercise to improve cardio function include cycling, swimming and walking.
  • Dietary changes – a healthy, low fat and balanced diet that includes a restricted salt intake is key. This can also help with losing weight, often a contributing factor.
  • Caffeine consumption should also be monitored to less than 5 cups of caffeine related drinks per day, either tea or coffee. [3]

If these changes alone don’t work, or perhaps you feel a supplementary routine alongside would be beneficial, then exploring natural solutions such as peptide bioregulators or other dietary supplements is useful.

Supplements for Treating Hypertension

Peptide bioregulators

There are a wide range of peptide bioregulators that can be taken in conjunction with each other to benefit various areas of the body. These are all based on the initial research carried out by Professor Vladimir Khavinson in the 1970s to use in the USSR, Russia and the CIS countries, by the military medical service. This research, which focused on over 20 complexes of physiologically active peptides, has led to very important breakthroughs in the medical sector in how peptide bioregulators can work in the body to optimise and normalize various areas of the body.

Blood Vessel Bioregulators

Blood vessel bioregulators such as Vesugen®, Ventfort® and Nature’s Marvels™ work to normalize blood cell performance; this can improve the trophism of the vascular wall cells and regulate the metabolic processes within them. This can also help to reduce cholesterol and lipoproteins to help decrease the risk of suffering with vascular issues.

Heart Peptides

Heart peptides such as Chelohart® is specific to normalizing the function of the heart, which in turn helps to regulate conditions such as hypertonia, hypertension, myocarditis and atrial fibrillation. This can help with stress, which in turn contributes to high blood pressure.

Dietary Supplements

LiposomePro™ (Liposomal liquid Astaxanthin)

Astaxanthin is a carotenoid with antioxidant properties. It works to protect the cells in the body from damage. Taking this as a dietary supplement (LiposomePro™) can help to increase good cholesterol in the body, which in turn lowers blood pressure.

LacticPro™

LacticPro™ contains high dose carnosine. L-carnosine is known to have potential to lower blood pressure as it helps to relax the blood vessels and inhibit angiotensin-converting enzymes (ACE).

VinPro™

VinPro™ contains the vinca-minor plant extract Vinpocetine, which is well known to improve circulation. It is a vasodilator which works by widening the blood vessels and allowing blood to flow more easily. This in turn helps many areas of the body including cognition, mental performance, artery health and blood cell health.

Glucobay®

GlucoBay® contains Acarbose which is a drug in the alpha-glucosidase inhibitor group. It is often taken by diabetics to help normalize insulin and glucose levels and has also been linked with significantly decreasing the risk of developing hypertension.

MetPro™

MetPro™ uses Metformin as its active ingredient, which has long been associated with lowering high blood sugar levels and improve cardiovascular function, which in turn helps to lower blood pressure in the body.

BloodSugarPro™

BloodSugarPro™ is a supplement that combines a range of natural ingredients including cordifolia, azadirachta, curcuma longa, slyestre and green coffee bean extract to reduce blood sugar levels. It also supports a range of other areas in the body including blood pressure, insulin resistance and metabolism.

EnergyPro™

Primarily used to boost the mitochondrial production of ATP (Adenosine Triposphate), EnergyPro™ is an energy boosting supplement (ATP being the “energy currency” of our body’s cells [4]). The ingredients within this supplement include Acetyl-l-carnitine (ALC), Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) and PQQ, which all work in different ways to produce energy and also protect the cells and mitochondria from damage. Methyl B12 in particular helps to keep the red blood cells healthy and aid detoxification.

NitricPro™

NitricPro™ is a nitric oxide booster that helps to improve blood flow and support cardiovascular function. It is often taken as a pre-workout drink to boost the levels of Nitric oxide in the body, helping with blood flow and cardiovascular health. NitricPro™ helps to lower high blood pressure and also normalize it with ongoing use by softening the arteries to reduce stiffening.

AminoPro™

AminoPro™ is a potent anti aging dietary supplement that contains Aminoguanidine, a drug that inhibits diamine oxidase and nitric oxide synthase. It works to inhibit advanced glycation end products (AGEs) which are key in the aging process. In addition, it works to prevent age related stiffening of the arteries, which can be a root cause of high blood pressure [5].

PQQPro™

PQQPro™ is a Pyrroloquinoline Quinone (PPQ) supplement that supports mitochondria in the body. It is known to stimulate the growth of new mitochondria and protect existing, which in turn helps to reduce the risk of cell death, oxidative stress and damage. This helps to protect the heart and improves pulmonary hypertension.

Boluoke®

Boluoke® contains Lumbrokinase, which is an enzyme that helps to improve blood health and prevent the coagulation of blood clots. Blood clots are common causes of heart attacks and strikes, which are also exacerbated by high blood pressure. In addition, if the arteries become hardened (or “stiff”), this can lead to higher blood pressure as well. Lumbrokinase works to prevent these health conditions from occurring.
