Compulsive Disorder, sometimes also known as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a mental health condition that affects men and women of all ages, as well as children. It tends to start during early adulthood and if not managed, can affect sufferers for the rest of their lives.
OCD presents as frequent and “obsessive” thoughts and behaviours that are compulsive; the individual cannot stop doing them or not do them. If the behaviours cannot be done, the individual can become extremely distressed, as the thoughts they have will include negative consequences if they cannot undertake the compulsive behaviours. This can include obsessive cleaning, checking security and checking if others are breathing.
