Gonorrhoea, sometimes called “The Clap”, is an STI that is the second most common in the UK. It is a bacterial infection that affects men and women, although does not always present with symptoms. If a person infected with Gonorrhoea does have symptoms, they are likely to be green or yellow discharge, pain when having a wee, and women may notice bleeding between periods.
Gonorrhoea is treated with antibiotics, and in most cases will clear up successfully with effective treatment. Potent antibiotics such as Doxycycline are very effective in cases of soft tissue infections like Gonorrhoea.
