Lou Gehrig’s Disease, which is actually a nickname for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), is a progressive and incurable disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord (motor neurons). This in turn leads to progressive problems with movements such as walking, talking and even eating. Unfortunately, there are no treatments that can reverse the progression of ALS, but there are supplements that can help to alleviate symptoms such as muscular pain and cramps, as well as boosting the immune system. These include low dose Naltrexone and TRH (Thyrotropin Releasing Hormone).
The name “Lou Gehrig’s Disease” actually originates from the famous baseball player who was diagnosed with it in 1939.
