Agomelatine is a depression and anxiety treatment. It is part of the Norepinephrine Dopamine disinhibitors class of drugs (NDDIs), which block the 5HT2C receptors and stop them from causing anxiety and stress. In turn, dopamine and norepinephrine levels are increased in the brain, which helps to combat depression and elevate mood. In addition, Agomelatine triggers a brain response that mimics naturally occurring melatonin, making it the world’s first melatonergic antidepressant.
