Melatonin

Melatonin is a hormone that is released by the pineal gland at night as a response to darkness. It is associated with the sleeping cycle and can be used as an oral supplement to treat short-term insomnia caused by activities such as shift work or jet lag.

Studies based on small mammals shows that melatonin-based treatments can delay the effects of aging and it is thought to have the same antiaging impact on humans.
